Nkateko was also behind major events such as the Channel O Awards and the DMVCAs. MultiChoice South Africa CEO for general entertainment Nomsa Philiso confirmed the news to Daily Sun that indeed Nkateko was no more.

“It is with great sadness that I share the news of Nkateko Mabaso’s passing. Nkateko, fondly known to many as NK was a maverick within the M-Net world where he held various roles and was instrumental in the implementation and growth of our Mass & Middle market propositions, with the flagship being the iconic Mzansi Magic,” she said.

She said he is survived by his Wife, Mathapelo, his son Tshimologo and his parents, Xithlangoma Bob and Lizzy Mabaso.

Nomsa said they will always remember him, as he left an indelible mark with his work on iconic productions such as Isibaya and The Queen and events such as the Channel O awards, DMVCAs, and a whole host of others.

She said his family, friends and colleagues find comfort during  this very difficult time.
