The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 36-year-old man suspected of attempting to steal his employer’s car shortly after dropping her off at Tejuosho Market, Yaba.
Confirming the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, disclosed that the complainant, whose identity was not revealed, reported the theft at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Hundeyin explained that the suspect, an unnamed driver, allegedly absconded with the complainant’s Lexus ES 350 vehicle, registered as EXY 950 FZ, along with her laptop. The incident occurred immediately after he dropped her off at the market.
“Upon receiving the report, police detectives swiftly tracked the suspect to Shubiri Road, Ojo, where he was apprehended and the stolen car recovered,” Hundeyin stated.
He further added, “The suspect will face charges in court once the investigation is concluded.”
The arrest underscores the vigilance and proactive measures of the Lagos State Police Command in combating criminal activities, particularly theft and related offenses in the state. Further details regarding the suspect’s motive or his employer’s response to the incident were not immediately available.
