He played the full 90 minutes last night as his side lost 1-0 away from home.

But there was a controversy during the LaLiga fixture as referee Jorge Figueroa Vazquez halted the game with 18 minutes on the clock.

The match was temporarily suspended due to a section of Alaves fans singing from the stands: “Greenwood, die.”

As play was paused, the supporters were warned about their chants over the stadium’s tannoy system.

The chanting reportedly reduced following the warning.

However, some Getafe members of staff continued to take issue with what was being said from the terraces.

The club are yet to reveal whether they will make a formal complaint to LaLiga chiefs.

It is also unclear whether Alaves could face an investigation.

Greenwood was accused of attempted rape, assault and coercive control in alleged offences relating to one woman that were said to have taken place between November 1, 2018, and October 15, 2022.

The Crown Prosecution confirmed on February 2, 2023 that all charges against him have been dropped.

Greenwood has scored ten goals in 34 matches this season.

He has just one game to go until his loan at Getafe expires.

The club are hopeful of keeping him next term – but may only be able to afford another loan.

Man Utd are yet to confirm Greenwood’s future and his contract at Old Trafford does not expire to 2025.

The Red Devils are reportedly open to offers this summer and want £45million.

And the likes of Napoli, Juventus and Barcelona have all been linked with signing him.
