Chicago post-punk trio Lifeguard have shared two new songs: “Ministry / Energie” and a cover of the Wipers’ 1980 classic “Telepathic Love.” Both were recorded in Los Angeles with No Age’s Randy Randall. They’re out now digitally, but will also come out on a 7″ vinyl record on October 25 via Matador. Check out both tracks below.

Next weekend, Lifeguard will perform at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, Illinois. Also slated to play the same day as the trio are Jamie xx, Carly Rae Jepsen, Unwound, De La Soul, Bratmobile, Wednesday, Hotline TNT, and many more. Tickets are still available.

Last year, Lifeguard made their Matador debut with the five-song Dressed in Trenches and bundled that EP with 2022’s Crowd Can Talk EP. That same year, they teamed up with fellow Chicago indie-rock locals Horsegirl—whose guitarist, Penelope Lowenstein, is the older sister of Lifeguard drummer Isaac Lowenstein—to cover the Stone Roses single “I Wanna Be Adored” for Unacceptable Color.
