Fuel prices have surged in Ilorin, Kwara State, causing widespread hardship for transporters, businesses, and passengers.

According to TheNGblog, petrol costs have skyrocketed over the weekend, reaching as high as ₦710-₦715 per liter in some areas due to ongoing scarcity.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) continues to sell fuel at ₦580 per liter, while major marketers like Total Energies are pricing it around ₦625. However, independent marketers are charging significantly higher rates of ₦710-₦715.

The fuel shortage has led to increased transportation costs, with transporters reluctantly raising fares. “We don’t want to increase fares, but we have no choice,” said one local transporter.

Passengers are also frustrated by the rising costs. “Everything is getting more expensive, but our salaries haven’t increased,” lamented a concerned passenger. “The government needs to address these economic pressures.” CONTINUE READING
