Following a killer performance during the Olympics closing ceremony, Phoenix have jumped on a new remix of Kavinsky’s track “Nightcall” with Belgian vocalist Angèle. Stream it below.

Originally written by Kavinsky and Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, “Nightcall” was first released in 2010 and featured in the title sequence for the Ryan Gosling film Drive. During the closing ceremony in Paris, Phoenix debuted the reimagined version with Belgian star Angèle, which they’ve now officially recorded and released to streaming.

Capitalizing on the intensity and moodiness of the original song, Phoenix member Thomas Mars’ vocals interweave with those of Angèle in and out of the chorus to haunting effect. The pacing is also slightly quicker than the 2010 track, but the remix retains the ’80s flourishes of synths and vocoders.

After the song was premiered live during the most-viewed Olympics closing ceremony in history, “Nightcall” broke the record for the most Shazams in a single day, notching over a million searches.
