A man simply identified as Autin, believed to be a technician was electrocuted at a popular wine Bar located at gas turbine road in Rumuekini in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Autin who hails from Kogi State was said to be carrying out repairs work in the ceiling of the facility when the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon.

The discovery was made when his voice was not heard and no response when he was called, causing the residents to raise the alarm and immediately make efforts to ascertain what was wrong.

Following the alarm raised by the residents, the management of the wine Bar immediately made a formal complaint to the Choba Police Division and officers were drafted to the scene to retrieve the corpse of the deceased and carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the scene.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the state’s police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, saying the investigation was ongoing.

Iringe-koko, a Superintendent of Police stated, “Yes I can confirm the incident. Police officers from Choba Police had visited the scene for a preliminary investigation.

“The owner of the Bar made an official report to the police and further investigation is still on. The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary.”
