We recently learned that Disney+ canceled Star Wars: The Acolyte after only one season. There were no details given as to why, but a new report has surfaced claiming that Lucasfilm was recently prepping to develop Season 2.

This report comes from The Hot Mic co-host John Rocha, who was told by sources that The Acolyte actually had a “soft green light” to continue.

He goes on to say that Lucasfilm was “putting together a Season 2 writers room back in February with Leslye Headland, and had been quietly inquiring about the interest level and availability of directors for a Season 2 as recently as last month.”

If this is true, it would be interesting to know what changed between the early development and the cancelation.

If the studio was still planning Season 2 as recently as last month, everyone would have already been well aware of the show’s performance and the level of backlash it received from fans.

I’m sure additional details will start to leak about what was going on behind-the-scenes. In the meantime, what do you think happened?
