The Lonely Island dropped by this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live to debut a brand new digital short called “Sushi Glory Hole.”
In the sketch, two businessmen, played by The Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer, pitch their idea to install “glory holes” for distributing fresh fish to hungry New Yorkers. “Sushi glory holes makes too much sense not to do it,” raps Samberg. “Fish through a hole. You know it ain’t nothing to it. And there is no scenario in which you wouldn’t want it. So drop to your knees, open wide and get ready for some rice.”
“Sushi Glory Hole” marks the first new digital short from The Lonely Island in six years, and only their fifth since Andy Samberg’s departure as a full-time cast member from SNL in 2012. However, with Samberg returning to play Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff for SNL’s 50th season, perhaps this won’t be the last short we see from The Lonely Island in the coming months.
