Peacock has released the teaser trailer for its heist thriller series titled Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. The show stars Kevin Hart and tells the true story of an armed robbery that took place after Muhammad Ali’s historical comeback fight in 1970.
Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is based on the acclaimed iHeart true-crime podcast, and it explores how this robbery “changed not only one man’s life but ultimately transformed Atlanta into the ‘Black Mecca.’
“When a hustler named Chicken Man (Hart) hosts an afterparty to celebrate the fight with a guest list of the country’s wealthiest, the night ends with the most brazen criminal underworld heist in Atlanta’s history.
“Suspected of masterminding the crime, Chicken Man is hellbent on clearing his name but must convince his old adversary, J.D. Hudson (Don Cheadle), one of the first Black detectives in the city’s desegregated police force, who is tasked with bringing those responsible to justice.”
Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is a series created and showrun by screenwriter Shaye Ogbonna and the cast also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Chloe Bailey, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Dexter Darden, Lori Harvey, and Sinqua Walls.
The series is directed by Craig Brewer (Black Snake Moan, Footloose, Hustle & Flow) and it looks like a great show!
