Our Sun vs Mystics prediction is for the Sun to cover.

The Sun to Continue their Dominance over the Mystics

The Connecticut Sun (8-0) defeated the Atlanta Dream (4-3) with a 69-50 victory to remain unbeaten this season. With this win, the Sun now hold the fifth-longest winning streak to start a season in WNBA history, being one of seven teams ever to achieve an 8-0 start.

On Friday night, Washington attempted a comeback after a poor first quarter but ultimately fell 90-79 to the New York Liberty at Barclays Center, making them the last winless team in the WNBA. It seems unlikely that Washington will break their losing streak in an away game against the undefeated Connecticut Sun.

Last season, Connecticut finished 13-7 at home and 14-6 in Eastern Conference play. They averaged 18.6 points off turnovers, 10.6 second-chance points, and 19.2 bench points per game. Meanwhile, Washington ended the season with a 19-21 overall record and a 9-11 record in the Eastern Conference, averaging 19.2 assists per game on 28.9 made field goals.

The Sun are Superb Defensively this Season

Connecticut’s decisive victory was fueled by 2023 MVP runner-up Alyssa Thomas, who nearly achieved a triple-double with eight points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. Thomas recorded her first triple-double of the season in the opener against the Indiana Fever and is one of only three players in WNBA history to achieve multiple triple-doubles in a single season, having set the league record with eight in 2023.

Despite these impressive individual performances, the team averages only 80.8 points per game this season, relying primarily on their defence to secure points. This defensive focus is evident, as they have scored 74 points or fewer in their last three games.

Bet 2: Total 1: Under 85.5 @ 1.80 odds 1xbet

The Mystics are the Worst Defensive Side in the WNBA

In their last game, Connecticut shot 42.4% (28-66) from the floor while limiting Atlanta to just 28.4% (19-67) shooting. The Sun have held two of their last three opponents to under 29% shooting, including Phoenix, who they restricted to 23.8% shooting.

The Sun boast the best defence in the WNBA this season, allowing only 70.6 points per game. Conversely, the Mystics have struggled offensively, averaging just 74.0 points per game, making them the lowest-scoring team in the league this season.

Bet 3: Total 2: Under 78.5 Points @ 1.87 odds 1xbet
