President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s return to Nigeria may necessitate a commercial flight due to continued maintenance issues with the presidential jets.

During his diplomatic visit to the Netherlands, President Tinubu was forced to charter a flight to Saudi Arabia after his primary presidential jet developed a fault and underwent repairs. The backup presidential jet also experienced technical difficulties.

Consequently, presidential aides, ministers, and other officials also flew to the summit on commercial airlines, leaving the faulty jets grounded.

Initial expectations were that the jets would be repaired in time for the president’s return. However, a presidency source confirmed on Thursday that the aircraft remain under maintenance.

If repairs are not completed by the end of President Tinubu’s foreign engagements, he may be forced to return home on another chartered flight.

When asked about the status of the jets, the source stated that they are still under maintenance and that the president may return to Nigeria “using commercial flight.”

Barring any unforeseen changes, President Tinubu is expected to return to the country on Saturday, May 4. CONTINUE READING
