Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate’s spokesman, Segun Sowunmi, has warned President Bola Tinubu against neglecting former governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Yahaya Bello of Kogi State if he intends to seek a second term.

Sowunmi highlighted that El-Rufai and Bello played a significant role in Tinubu’s presidential campaign but have since been marginalized. This treatment, he argued, contradicts the understanding between Yorubas and the north.

“Nasir El-Rufai, despite his support for Asiwaju, has faced humiliation in the Senate clearance process, which was dominated by Tinubu’s allies,” Sowunmi stated. “Similarly, Yahaya Bello has been sidelined despite his efforts in the youth campaign and APC membership registration.”

Sowunmi emphasized the importance of power-sharing and the need for those who contribute to political victories to feel protected. He warned Tinubu that betraying El-Rufai and Bello could jeopardize his chances of winning a second term.

“You may need to understand that power must be shared,” Sowunmi said. “People must feel protected by an arrangement they help bring about. Where are the men of yesterday? Power must be shared, and the world over, people must feel protected by an arrangement they help bring about.” CONTINUE READING
