The University of Nigeria (UNN) has suspended Mfonobong David Udoudom, a lecturer in the General Studies division, following allegations of sexual harassment.

Udoudom, who teaches Peace and Conflict Resolution and Nigerian People’s and Culture, was allegedly caught on camera attempting to engage in sexual activity with a married student in his office on April 22. The student reportedly informed her husband, who, along with the Dean of Students Affairs and school security, apprehended Udoudom in the act.

Dr. Okwun Omeaku, Acting Public Relations Officer of UNN, confirmed the suspension in a statement on April 23, 2024. The suspension is effective immediately and will remain in place until the outcome of a disciplinary panel’s investigation into the incident.

“The management of the University of Nigeria has suspended Mr. Mfonobong David Udoudom, a lecturer in our General Studies division, who was caught in a video allegedly harassing a female student,” the statement reads.

UNN maintains a strict policy against sexual misconduct and is committed to protecting students from abuse and exploitation. The University Management has stated that Udoudom will face disciplinary action if found guilty by the disciplinary panel.
