Nathan Aspinall is an English darts player, born on July 15, 1991, in Stockport.

Aspinall was a keen football player as a child, and spent five years at a Sale-based academy which was run by Manchester United.

He was even offered a deal to move to Rangers when he was 11 but turned it down for family reasons.

The sportsman went on to train as an accountant before turning to darts professionally.

Aspinall has been involved in the world of darts for many years and first began playing in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events in 2012. 

He qualified for the UK Open for the first time in 2015 but was knocked out in the fourth round, and returned the following year where he was knocked out in the second.

Aspinall won his first ranking PDC title in September 2018.

He beat Ryan Searle 6–4, qualifying him for his first World Championship.

Aspinall has competed at the World Championships every year since.

Aspinall was the winner of the 2019 UK Open and the 2019 US Darts Masters.

He also won the 2023 World Matchplay tournament.

The player may be well known for walking on to the 2003 hit but he has admitted to almost choosing another song.

He told Sky Sports in 2022: “I was torn believe it or not between Mr Brightside and The Greatest Showman!

“Luckily I chose the right one I believe and the first time I used it was at the World Championship and that’s why I stuck with it because the crowd loved it and got involved.”

Aspinall also recalled being put under the spotlight when the song came on in a nightclub in his hometown of Stockport.

He said: “I got back from the World Championship and we got back on New Year’s Eve and my missus wanted to go out.

So, we went to Bredbury Hall in Stockport, a big nightclub and the DJ saw me.

“Next minute he made this big announcement, ‘We’ve got this celebrity in, a darts player who got to the semi-final’, and he put the song on.

“I got ushered to the dance floor and everyone went mental.”
