DAVID Gilbert was long considered the best snooker player never to lift a ranking title — that is until he won the 2021 Championship League, defeating Mark Allen in the final.
Now he’s competing for a spot in his first World Championship final — here’s everything we know about his family.
Who is David Gilbert’s wife Abigail?
While Abigail is active on social media, she prefers to keep her personal data out of the public domain.
The exact date of when she and David tied the knot hasn’t been reported, but in 2017 Abigail posted about their sixth anniversary, suggesting they wed in 2011.
Abi is the only person I let tell me what to do, how I should behave

David has spoken in the past about how his wife has helped his career.

In a 2016 interview with the Times, he said: “Abi is the only person I let tell me what to do, how I should behave, and my career would have been better if I had been more professional.
“Late nights, beers, and probably a bit more than that… let’s leave it at that. I just never took the game that seriously.
“She basically said to me ‘Get a grip, do you want to go back and sit on a tractor?’ I didn’t mind that, but this is a nicer way to live.”
How many children do David and Abigail Gilbert have?
David and Abigail have one child together — a daughter.
They prefer keep her information private, so very little is known about her.
In 2020, he opened up about the positive effect his family have had on his life, telling Eurosport: “I’m a changed man.
“I’m married, not so much partying and I have a beautiful little daughter and a nice home, things I thought I would never have.
“Life is good at the moment.”
Do David and Abigail Gilbert live on a farm?
David grew up on a farm, but where he lives now is not publicly known.
Despite his success on the snooker table, he still loves nothing more than helping out on his father’s potato farm in Staffordshire.
But just how did his “Angry Farmer” nickname come about?
Well it is all down to fellow snooker ace Matthew Selt, 39.
Gilbert told SunSport: “The Angry Farmer. Matt Selt came out with it ages ago.
“Obviously I was a farmer and now and again an absolute loon so he stuck the angry bit on.”
