Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has refuted allegations that he is a fugitive. In a statement through his media officer, Ohiare Michael, Bello asserted that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) never officially invited him for questioning.
“Alhaji Yahaya Bello is not afraid of the EFCC,” Michael stated. “He demands that the rule of law be respected.”
Bello challenged the EFCC to provide evidence of an invitation sent to him since leaving office. “We are certain that the EFCC will not be able to produce any such documentation,” he said.
The EFCC has accused Bello of laundering N80.2 billion belonging to the Kogi State Government. On April 17, EFCC operatives attempted to arrest Bello at his Abuja residence, but were prevented by the arrival of Governor Usman Ododo.

Consequently, the anti-graft agency declared Bello wanted and placed him on a Watchlist. CONTINUE READING
